About Claudia

Claudia Smith grew up in Houston, Texas. Her essays have appeared in Hawaii Pacific Review, Southwest Review, The Texas Review, LitHub, The Manifest-Station, The Toast/The Butter, and The Rumpus, among others. She is the author of two flash fiction collections, The Sky Is A Well And Other Shorts (Rose Metal Press) and Put Your Head In My Lap (Future Tense Books). The Sky Is A Well was reprinted as part of A Peculiar Feeling of Restlessness: Four Chapbooks of Short Short Fiction by Four Women. Her story collection, Quarry Light, is available from Magic Helicopter Press.

Her flash fiction and short stories have appeared in numerous journals and anthologies, including Lone Star Noir, Norton’s The New Sudden Fiction: Short-Short Stories From America and Beyond, and New Micro. Claudia is a lecturer at the University of Houston–Downtown.
